I would like to extend my Thanks to everyone who helped out at this years Lowell Folk Festival. It was a huge success, which was mainly due to the incredible volunteers that we had helping out. You all deserve a big round of applause for the work you did this past weekend.

I would like to invite everyone who helped out at this years festival to a meeting where we will discuss some of the things that went well and some of the things that maybe could have been done better. I want to make next years festival even better and with your input I am sure it will be just as successful if not more so than this year. For those interested in sharing their thoughts and ideas, we will be meeting this Friday the 4th at LTC at 1:30 PM. You are not obligated to be here by any means, but it is open to everyone who is interested.

Alliance for Community Media Conference 2006

Each year the Alliance for Community Media hosts an International Conference and Trade Show – four days of training sessions, workshops, trade show, and hospitality events. Attendees will receive up-to-date information and hands-on experience on subjects including engineering, production and technology, legislative and legal, management and administration, professional and volunteer development, community building, media literacy, and more.

The Alliance is a national non-profit membership organization that educates and advocates on behalf of community media. The Alliance provides peer professional training and community activist networking to professionals and volunteers who work in Public, Educational and Governmental (PEG) Access through its national and regional conferences, website and list serves, quarterly journal, member newsletters, publications, videos, legislative and legal assistance.

Youth lead extravanganza of music, art fashion and media.

Lowell lacks a scene where youth can artistically express themselves. The Youth Channel youths recognize this and this is the reason why they want to create this festival. They want to expose fellow youths in Lowell to other culture. The versatility, honest, creative, and rough aspects of Urban style would perfectly mesh well with the existing youth culture here in Lowell.

The Youth Channel: Lowell consists of five uniquely dynamic individuals: Danny Kingphilavanh, Voula Venetis, Vannary Tan, Ivypoison Bousari, and Nu Goteh. Together they want to create a festival that would bring a multi-layered event that would combine the style and flavor of urban art in the form of art, music, performance, and fashion.

"Drawing on Lowell" to premiere on LTC Channel 8

LTC is proud to present the pilot episode of 'Drawing on Lowell' – a community history project airing December 30th on LTC Channel 8 at 7:00 and 10pm.

Drawing on Lowell explores the rich culture of the City, both past and present through a mix of storytelling, art and technology. In the premiere episode, Dr. Patrick Mogan, father of the Lowell National Historic Park will be interviewed by Richard Howe Jr. This hour long discussion reveals Mogan’s vision for the park, beginning with his childhood and continuing through to the present. Accompanying the interview will be graphics and animation inspired by the mills and canals of Lowell, created over the past year by girls of Girls Inc. of Greater Lowell in collaboration with LTC.
