Gloria Polites attended UMass Lowell earning a BS in Political Science and Psychology. She received her MA in Political Science from Boston College where she also held the position of Assistant Director of the Program for Women in Political & Governmental Careers. After taking part in productions at Chelmsford Public Access, she volunteered at LTC in its early days, taking all the production courses offered and crewing on productions like the Lowell Folk Festival. She also produced teacher training videos for the Murkland School in Lowell. Gloria co-
wrote, acted in, and directed “Cameos”, an original musical based on famous women from Lowell. She has done professional voice-over work, and had roles in several episodes of”The Grist Mill”, an audio webcast modeled on old-time radio horror shows.
Born and brought up in Dracut, Gloria has loved being involved in Greater Lowell’s diverse cultural activities over the years. She served on the Regatta Festival Committee, the precursor of Lowell’s Folk Festival, as chair of the Franco-American group. She coordinated the Franco-American Dance Troupe, sat on the Board of the Angkor Dance Troupe, and worked at the Lowell Historic Preservation Commission to bring entertainment to the Market Mills Courtyard.
