On July 18, the City Council’s Ad Hoc Election Law subcommittee, chaired by Councilor Vesna Nuon, will hold its public hearing here at LTC at 6:30 PM. The session is sponsored by UTEC and the Downtown Lowell Neighborhood Association. All are welcome to provide input on this vitally important topic.
The subcommittee has been meeting at various locations in the city to obtain citizens’ input on the city’s current voting laws. One possible change being discussed is having councilors selected both at large and by district.
Two other hearings in addition to the July 18 meeting at LTC are scheduled: One on July 25 at the Butler Middle School and the other on August 1 at the Robinson School.
Make your voice heard. Attend one of these meetings and let your local representatives know how you think the city’s election laws could help increase voter turnout.
